Continuing
its winning streak for second session, rupee appreciated 5 paise to
63.34 against dollar in trades today. The currency markets were
keenly waiting for the US Fed Chair Janet Yellen's two-day testimony
before the US Congress and reform measures by Greek parliament. The
local unit settled 13 paise higher at 63.39 against the US currency
in the preceding session, thanks to fag-end selling of dollars by
banks and exporters. There are expectations that Yellen could give
more cues on the timing of the beginning of Fed rate hikes later this
year. She is also expected talk about the state of the US economy.
Dollar index, which tracks dollar movement against a basket of world
currencies, stood modestly higher at 96.67.
