The Indian rupee opened lower by 12 paise at 67.66 per dollar on Friday versus 67.54 Thursday.

Pramit Brahmbhatt of Veracity said, "We expect equity market to go up following yesterday's gain and the rupee will take a cue from the moves in the equity market." "We expect the rupee to trade stronger in a range of 67.20-67.80/dollar levels," he added.

The US dollar extended its losses against major currencies as traders sharply unwound bullish bets against the greenback on continued skepticism that the Fed would be able to hike interest rates this year.
