Rupee Downward 12 Paise Against Dollar

The Rupee slided by 12 paise to 61.53 against the American currency in morning trade today on month closed dollar desired from importers. The rupee continued lower at 61.44 as against yesterday's ending level of 61.41 at the Interbank Foreign Exchange (Forex) and moved downward further to 61.54 before quoting at 61.53 at 1100 hours. The local currency levitate in a range of 61.42 and 61.54 during late morning.

Russian rouble opens predominantly weaker on Thursday

Russia's rouble fell in early trade on Thursday, expanding losses from earlier in the week as sliding oil prices and the threat of new European Union sanctions over the Ukraine crisis envenom sentiment. At 0735 GMT, the rouble was around 0.8 % weaker against the dollar at 68.58 and 0.6 % lower at 77.38 against the euro. Stocks were mixed, with the dollar based RTS index downward 1 % to 758 points and the rouble designate MICEX.
